Three Specialist Gynaecologists at the Illawarra Women’s Specialist Centre

Dr Tahrir Basheer is a highly experienced female gynaecologist practicing in the Illawarra since 2005. She has been trained in Australia and overseas. Her expertise lies in the treatment of vaginal and vulval diseases, abnormal pap smears, and obstetrics. She also offers private obstetric care to high-risk women.

Dr Simon Winder

Dr Simon Winder is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Wollongong, NSW, Australia. He has a passion for women’s health and strives to help women avoid dangerous gynecological conditions. He also works to maintain fertility and help women deliver healthy babies. He practices at the Illawarra Womens Specialist Centre.

Dr Simon Winder completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney in 1996 and has since worked primarily in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He also has experience in Accident and Emergency Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and has a Master of Reproductive Medicine. He offers expert advice for women throughout every stage of their pregnancy. His special interests include early pregnancy, genetic conditions, and infertility.

Dr Tahrir Basheer

Dr Basheer is a highly qualified Obstetrician and provides comprehensive care for women’s health. He performs vaginal and laparoscopic hysterectomies, manages fibroids and abnormal bleeding, and provides obstetric care. He also welcomes patients with a general practitioner’s referral for antenatal care.

Dr Basheer is a highly experienced and well-trained obstetrician and gynecologist who has been practicing in the Illawarra for over five years. She completed her MBBS in 1982 and has since trained both in Australia and overseas.

Dr Ananthram is dedicated to improving the health of women in the Illawarra region. She works in both the public and private hospitals and has a passion for providing evidence-based care for women. She is a member of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District’s Policy and Practice Committee. She also is a qualified trainer of physicians for the DRANZCOG Advanced program. She also teaches minimally invasive gynaecological surgery.

Dr David Greening

Dr David Greening, OB/GYN at Illawarra Womens Specialist Centre, is an expert in reproductive health and assisted reproductive technology. He has delivered over 3,500 babies and assisted in more than 1,500 IVF pregnancies. He has been a gynaecologist since 2002 and has trained at Obstetrician Wollongong world-class medical institutes. In his private practice, he delivers around 15 babies a month. He has an impressive track record and aims to help women achieve a baby as naturally and safely as possible.

He has a keen interest in the field of interprofessional education, and he has worked to improve gynaecology training for medical students. He has also been involved in high-fidelity simulations to improve multidisciplinary care during emergencies. He also supervises doctors in training accredited by the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RANZCOG). He is also a qualified supervisor for the DRANZCOG Advanced program, which teaches specialist skills for rural and remote Australia.
